Educational & Creative Summer Programs

As summer nears, many parents are once again considering how to keep their children鈥檚 minds and bodies active during the long school break. As screen time grows, we encourage parents to find creative ways for children to spend time outdoors, socializing, and learning during the summer months. If you haven鈥檛 made plans for your children yet, rest assured there are still plenty of educational, creative, and adventurous summer options for children of all ages. The programs below all have open applications and availability as of this writing.

Known as one of the most prestigious programs for children interested in performing or fine arts, Interlochen offers camps in theatre arts, music, creative writing, visual arts, and dance. Located in northwest Michigan and open to students in grades 3鈥12, children will spend time each day practicing their instrument or chosen art form, plus generous time outdoors on Lake Michigan swimming, hiking, canoeing and sailing. It is known for its excellent balance between professional arts coaching and enjoyable leisure and social time for campers. Notable Interlochen alumni include musicians Norah Jones, Josh Groban, and听Chappell Roan, as well as Academy Award-winning actress听Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and听Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Mary Oliver.

Run by Columbia University in Vermont, Columbia Climate School is a two-week program for students in grade 9-12 interested in issues affecting climate, policy, sustainability, Earth, and society. Daily activities include lectures and team-building exercises, time outdoors including plant walks and berry picking, and traditional camp activities, like s鈥檓ores, campfires, kickball, and soccer. The school emphasizes action and planning; students will walk away feeling empowered to make meaningful change in the world.

The New York Times Summer Academy is open to high school students (grades 10-12) interested in journalism and media. Led by seasoned journalists, editors, and media professionals in New York, the academy allows students to investigate, ask questions, and learn about journalism in a college-like dorm setting. Students can choose classes from a range of topics, including photojournalism, arts and culture writing, political reporting, sports journalism, visual storytelling, and editing. The school offers access to top reporters and writers so students can learn from the best in their field. The academy also helps coordinate cultural outings in and around New York City during students鈥 downtime. Local day students are welcome too.

International students can get a taste of Oxford University during this residential summer program for students aged 13鈥18. The rigorous program includes morning classes in topics such as English and global leadership followed by professional coaching in the afternoons in a range of fields including tennis and photography. Outside of the classroom, students will explore the Oxford campus and surrounding areas. Students stay in individual single rooms on campus, which allows for a glimpse into dorm life while still maintaining privacy and safety.

For West Coast families looking for a fun outdoor experience for children, we love Aloha Beach Camp. Led by certified lifeguards, the Malibu camp has programs for children ages 3 through 15 in swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, and ocean safety. Many children return year after year for 10+ years, and it is known for being exceptionally good with children experiencing learning differences, ADHD, and autism; contact the camp to find out if it is a good fit for your child.

For those looking for a traditional and well-structured day camp on the East Coast, we love Camp Ramaquois in听Pomona, NY. For campers ages 3 through 10th grade, the camp offers听programs highlighting swimming, STEM, and outdoor sports, all in a beautiful lakeside environment.

Newsweek鈥檚 list of听 is a great resource to search by star rating, location, overnight vs. day camp, coed or separated.

How To Help Children Manage Seasonal Allergies

After Outside Routine

As soon as the warm weather arrives, it鈥檚 natural (and overall beneficial!) for children to spend time outdoors. However, this can cause a lot of problems for little ones prone to听allergies. Develop a non-negotiable 鈥渁fter outside routine鈥; have children remove their shoes at the door or in the mudroom, take a shower and put on clean clothes immediately.听Outdoor clothes should be worn only outside during this time of year.

Keep Their Space Clean

Ask staff to vacuum more frequently this time of year, keep windows closed, check HVAC and air purifier filters, and wash children鈥檚 clothes after every wear using fragrance-free, hypoallergenic detergents. You might consider adding HEPA air filters to your child鈥檚 room, using hypoallergenic bedding and mattress covers, and removing rugs or curtains that trap allergens.

Be Mindful of Pets

Pets can often bring in pollen without us realizing it. Brush or wash animals that spend a good deal of time outside or make rules about where in the home they can go. Never let a pet that spends time outside sleep with your allergy-prone child. If not part of your regular routine, you might consider adding听regular professional pet grooming during allergy season.

Wear a Mask as Needed

For children with serious seasonal听allergies, it might be wise for them to wear a mask on particularly windy or dry days.

Use Medication and Talk to Your Child鈥檚 Doctor

Buy听child-safe allergy medication听and have it on hand at all times. Speak with your doctor about whether your child should be taking something preemptively every day or only in the case of a reaction.

BAHS has been featured in Private Air, offering a thoughtful look into the evolving role of the modern butler and the growing complexity of private household management.

In the feature, Founder Anita Rogers shares how the role has shifted from traditional service to one rooted in operational leadership. As families become increasingly global and mobile, today鈥檚 household professionals are responsible for far more than day-to-day support. From managing multi-residence logistics and coordinating travel to ensuring consistency across homes, the role requires precision, discretion and a deep understanding of each household鈥檚 unique needs.

The article also highlights the importance of emotional intelligence and trust, with modern butlers often acting as behind-the-scenes leaders who maintain continuity, anticipate challenges and create seamless experiences for families navigating demanding lifestyles.

This evolution reflects a broader shift in how high-functioning households operate, where success is defined not by visibility, but by the absence of disruption.

Welcome Spring: Spring Cleaning Tips

As the weather warms and we all prepare to spend more time outdoors, we are sharing our top tips to prepare your home for a healthy, organized, and social season. From refreshing your property after the cold winter months to readying your staff for a busy calendar of events, thoughtful planning is key to an easy transition.

Examine Outdoor Spaces

Before contacting any vendors or maintenance providers, we suggest you (or your estate manager) do a full walk-through of outdoor spaces and any areas that haven鈥檛 been regularly used during the winter months. Look for damage from storms, wear and tear, and things that might need extra attention. We recommend a full inspection of the pool if it was closed for the season, including heating, lighting, and filtration. Be sure to also check gym equipment, saunas, outdoor lighting, water features, and garage maintenance. Start with repairs, painting, and servicing before moving on to deep cleaning and organizing.

Prepare Outdoor Furniture

Once you鈥檙e certain all maintenance and repairs have been completed, it鈥檚 time to move on to cleaning and aesthetics. Outdoor kitchens, seating areas, pool grounds, and other social areas should be cleaned and stocked for the summer. Outdoor furniture and cushions should be professionally cleaned after months of storage.

Breathe Clean Air

Inside the home, replace HVAC and air purifier filters and cleans any overhead fans. 滨迟鈥檚 a good time to have all curtains and window treatments professionally cleaned, as well as carpets. Make sure to dust crown moldings, exposed beams, and other architectural details. Take the time to make sure you have only the smart home apps on your phone that you need; delete old apps taking up space.

Stock Wine Cellar & Bar

Depending on how you entertain, we suggest stocking commonly used areas with summer beverages. For the pool house or outdoor fridge, we鈥檇 bring out some ros茅 and white wine, as well as sparkling water, bottled lemonade, and your other favorite refreshing beverages. Make sure the ice makers and bar sinks are all cleaned and in good working order and that the wine cellar temperature is carefully controlled for summer.

Beyond the Usual Deep Clean

滨迟鈥檚 a great time of year to go beyond the usual deep clean and have curtains and upholstered furniture professionally cleaned and steamed, as well as silver polished, and windows washed. Take the time to deep clean appliances, ovens, and grills.

Check Artwork Conditions

Double-check artwork positioning in the home in terms of sunlight and temperature. The harsh sun can quickly damage works that aren鈥檛 properly protected. Take this time to make sure everything you鈥檝e acquired over the last year is properly documented and your insurance is up to date.

Personal Wardrobe

Swap out your items seasonally and review your closet for anything you can donate or give away. 滨迟鈥檚 a good time of year to have luggage and jewelry professionally cleaned. Luggage in particular is often overlooked but caring for high quality travel items will keep it looking fresh for longer, regardless of how often you travel.

We also recommend that you dry clean winter coats before putting them into storage, and make any necessary winter boot or shoe repairs now. Everything should be packed away clean and in good condition.

Prepare Guest Rooms

Swap out bed linens for lighter summer versions, add beach towels, and restock toiletries. Make sure the HVAC system is working properly in the room. 滨迟鈥檚 also a good time to add some little details to make your guest鈥檚 stay more comfortable – perhaps add a few books or magazines, a cozy robe, phone charger, and clearly available Wi-Fi information. Double-check that there is clear space in the closet and drawers for their items.

Security Systems Review

As we head into a busy time of year with plenty of travel, make sure you or a trusted member of your team reviews all security measures in place.听They should check that all gates, keypads, cameras, and remote systems are working properly, and听are accessible by key staff members. Make sure there is also an emergency plan in place that everyone is clearly informed of, including child caregivers and all family members.

Seasonal Staff

This is also a great time to review the need for any seasonal staff, including summer nannies or chefs. Take the time to prep staff on the summer schedule and travel plans, as well as holiday hours and events they will be working. Review staff鈥檚 summer uniforms, reorder or clean as needed, and make sure everyone is ready for a busy season.

Bermuda: The Atlantic鈥檚 New Superyacht Destination

Just a two-hour flight from New York City, you鈥檒l find the island destination of Bermuda, known for pink sands, crystal clear waters, gorgeous foliage, and some of the best golf and tennis clubs in the world. Long a favorite for East Coast holiday weekends, the British territory is now emerging as a luxury superyacht destination.

Bermuda鈥檚 yacht industry is rapidly growing. In 2024, the island welcomed a total of 974 yachts, including 79 superyachts,听a 41% increase听compared to the previous year. The 2025 numbers are not yet released (we will issue an update when they are) but a similarly large increase is expected. This is due not only to Bermuda鈥檚 participation in major events such as the听Newport to Bermuda Yacht Race, but also Bermuda鈥檚 recent heavy investment into superyacht-ready infrastructure, such as the听new St. George鈥檚 Marina & Superyacht Dock.听This new state-of-the-art facility located in the UNESCO World Heritage site of St. George鈥檚 offers berthing for听vessels up to 150 meters, onsite yacht agent and concierge staff, and an exclusive superyacht owner鈥檚 lounge. It is very near to the island鈥檚 only airport, L.F. Wade International Airport, which can听accommodate private jets.

Why Do Superyachts Choose Bermuda?

Location

The island鈥檚 location in the North Atlantic Ocean about 650 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and about 1,000 miles north of St. Bart鈥檚 makes it an ideal mid-Atlantic waypoint. There are no visa requirements for citizens of the US, UK, and Canada.

Privacy & Safety

Unlike many popular Mediterranean or Caribbean yacht destinations, Bermuda values privacy. You won鈥檛 find paparazzi or big crowds on the island. 滨迟鈥檚 the perfect destination to escape for peace and quiet. In addition,听Bermuda is a very safe destination for tourists, generally holding a Level 1 travel advisory (the safest rating) from the U.S. Department of State.

Financial Hub

Bermuda is a globally respected financial center, particularly in insurance and international finance. That sophistication extends to marine services and logistics, making it easier for yacht owners and crews to navigate local marine regulations, provisioning, and financial arrangements.

Sunset In Bermuda

Hospitality in Bermuda

Bermudians are known for their friendly demeanor and it is commonplace to greet everyone, from shopkeepers to strangers passing on the street. This warmth extends to their gracious hospitality.

Where to Stay

Bermuda has no shortage of historic and luxury hotels. If you have friends in Bermuda or a reciprocal membership through another club, we love听. It offers the true Bermuda experience with historic architecture, charming cottages, beautiful gardens, and welcoming staff. It boasts a private beach, tennis courts, a clubhouse with restaurants, oceanside patio, pool table, library and more. 滨迟鈥檚 a great choice for families as many of the cottages have full kitchens, multiple bedrooms, full-size living spaces, and private patios.

In terms of large, luxury hotels, the best are听听(directly in town, walking distance to Front Street鈥檚 bars and restaurants),听听at Tucker鈥檚 Point, and the new听on St. George鈥檚 Island, near the yacht port.听听at Elbow Beach is another upscale and well-loved choice on the island; its private location, design-focused atmosphere, and excellent dining options make it a great choice for discerning travelers.

All of these luxury hotels can plan exclusive experiences for their guests, including private beach dinners, historic tours of St. George鈥檚, glassblowing workshops in Dockyard, cave experiences, fishing trips, and private sailing trips.

Where to Eat

If your last trip to Bermuda was 10+ years ago, you might remember that the number of truly quality restaurants was minimal. In the past decade or so, many new restaurants have opened on the island, including excellent gourmet options. Many (but not all) of the best restaurants on the island are connected to hotels, including听听at the Hamilton Princess,听听at the Southampton Princess (note that the hotel itself is temporarily closed at the moment), and听听at the Azura Hotel.

听in Paget is a classic choice; there you鈥檒l find an 18th century fireplace, cedar beams, and original stone walls and dine on traditional Bermudian dishes, as well as steakhouse classics. The nearby听听also offers great food, along with elevated ocean views.

If you鈥檙e looking for a good bite in Hamilton鈥檚 downtown, we suggest听,听, or听. For a casual pub meal, stop by the oldest licensed establishment in Bermuda,听.

Where to Play

Bermuda is renowned for having one of the highest densities of golf courses

relative to its small population and land area (at 21 square miles, the entirety of Bermuda is a little smaller than the island of Manhattan). Our favorites are听听(St. George’s) and听. Bermuda also has a great tennis culture, with many luxury homes boasting grass or clay tennis courts. Our favorite place to play is the听, though many of the hotels have their own courts.

Bermuda 2

Bermuda Facts

Currency

The Bermudian dollar (also called the Bermuda dollar) is the official currency of Bermuda. It is always pegged to the United States dollar at a one-to-one ratio, and US currency is also accepted everywhere in Bermuda. Bermuda鈥檚 paper bills are known for their beautiful colors and wildlife motifs.

Transportation

Most in Bermuda ride scooters and mopeds, which helps manage traffic on the small and winding roads. While tourists can easily rent these bikes, traditional car rentals are prohibited but instead they offer rentals of small, two-seater electric mini-cars. Keep in mind that Bermuda drives on the left-hand side of the road. Taxis are readily available in Hamilton and other popular areas, but otherwise need to be arranged by phone in advance. Expect friendly drivers and high fares; many remain cash only. Bermuda also has public buses and ferry service.

Weather

Bermuda is听苍辞迟听in the Caribbean; it sits in the North Atlantic Ocean, about 650 miles off the coast of North Carolina. Thanks to the Gulf Stream, the island enjoys mild weather year-round, but the ocean can be cooler than many Caribbean destinations, especially in the spring. It is not a traditional tropical destination and does experience very light seasonality. Check temperatures ahead and plan to pack layers during the off season.

White Roofs

Bermuda relies primarily on rain for drinking water. The white roofs you鈥檒l see around the island are specifically designed to catch the water. The roofs are painted with white, lime-based paint to keep the water clean and cool.

America鈥檚 Cup

In 2017, Bermuda hosted the 35th America’s Cup, where Emirates Team New Zealand defeated Oracle Team USA 7-1. The event featured hydrofoiling AC50 yachts. Bermuda鈥檚 rich sailing history helped it to win its bid to host ahead of cities like听Newport, San Diego, and Chicago.

Cheers! Cocktails in Bermuda

Extraordinary Caregivers

Anita Rogers, BAHS Founder and CEO, recently lost her father, Rabbi Dr. Martin A. Cohen (1928-2026). Prior to his passing, he was cared for by Anita, alongside a dedicated team of women. This week, Anita is proud to spotlight these incredible caregivers as they are now seeking their next positions. Anita gives each of them her highest recommendation and would be happy to speak directly to any family interested in hiring. Learn more about eldercare here.

A Note from Anita Rogers, BAHS Founder & CEO:

I first hired caregivers for my mother and father when my mother became ill. We started with Yaneth, whom my mother adored. Yaneth had experience with her illness and knew how gentle, loving, and respectful to be so my mother could trust her. Yaneth was like sunshine in our lives. My mother was very attached to her, and Yaneth helped her find comfort in someone outside of the family. Yaneth helped during such challenging times. When my mother died, I hired 2 other caregivers to work alongside me, so my father had 24/7 care, while he was still very healthy. He was in his late 90s and required a walker but was otherwise in excellent health. I wanted a team to ensure his safety 24/7 and to maintain a clean environment, and to prepare healthy meals. 滨迟鈥檚听such a gift to be able to hire care before your parent is ill听or requires urgent care. This allows them to build听trust and a routine, and make sure you鈥檝e taken the time to hire the right people without being rushed by a medical emergency. The four women, Yaneth, Cynthia, Paola, and Dawn, who cared for him are听absolutely听extraordinary caregivers,听and it鈥檚 hard to express how much they mean to me and how truly phenomenal they are. I was there, with them, taking care of him each day, so I witnessed firsthand听how they went above and beyond, showing my father听genuine love, compassion, commitment, and true dedication.听I am deeply grateful, as was he. He always felt safe, loved, and respected. These girls adored him.

In late 2025, my previously healthy father became ill and was hospitalized with a medication-related lung injury. At that time, I arranged for the caregivers to work their usual shifts ensuring听24/7 coverage听in the hospital room for over a month. I spent most of my days there alongside them and their dedication was extraordinary, as they stayed in the hospital room round the clock tending to his every need with patience, compassion, and kindness. The hospital nurses even said our eldercare team was听better than the hospital staff. They were there, and incredibly attentive. We all worked hard to make him feel comfortable in a hospital setting, which was very difficult for him.

Once he returned home and was bedridden, I added Dawn, an amazing RN, to the team. The caregivers, a team of four led by Yaneth, ensured he was always safe, managed his听medications and oxygen, kept him听肠濒别补苍,听comfortable, andfree from bedsores, all of this while also听maintaining his dignity. They worked with love, attending to every detail. In addition to caregiving, they performed听high-quality housekeeping听and prepared basic,听healthy meals. They even cooked and served when he had guests, usually 4 times a week, before he became ill. When he was ill and guests came to see him, the team ensured every medical rule was followed. All guests had to wear masks, gloves and get tested for COVID and flu at the door, only allowed in when the test was negative. They managed to help him drink water and eat, when he didn’t want to, but medically needed to. 听They were all incredibly flexible with their hours听and catered to his every need. He consistently felt loved, respected, adored, and most importantly,听he felt safe. The team wanted to be there caring for him, they wanted to support me, as well. They all gave us their hearts and true dedication.

I feel so fortunate that my father had this amazing team by his side during his twilight years. They are truly angels sent from heaven and an incredible dream team.听We called ourselves 鈥淭eam Martin,鈥 which included the four caregivers, one close friend, and me. They deserve only the best, as they truly are the very best you can find in every way.

Yaneth, Team Leader

Home Health Aide and Eldercare & Dementia Specialist

Anita describes Yaneth as 鈥渟oft, loving, totally dedicated and loyal, highly intelligent, kind, sensitive, and possessing great integrity and a huge, selfless heart filled with love. She is one of the kindest, hardworking people anyone could ever meet. Yaneth is a rare type of person, a 鈥渙nce-in-a-lifetime鈥 type of person. She is very special.鈥 She became a member of the family to Anita and Martin, and treated Martin with such care and compassion every single day.听Yaneth took charge in the hospital alongside Anita, and the nurses and doctors worked with them to ensure Martin鈥檚 comfort and recovery.

Yaneth is a phenomenal team leader. She treats everyone who works with her with love and respect. She has no ego, and she completely dedicates herself to her job. Her听dedication听and听loyalty,听her experience and听extraordinary work ethic, are amazing assets for any family. Anita shared that 鈥渉er warmth, love and loyalty lead everyone, and everyone loves Yaneth鈥bsolutely everyone.鈥

Yaneth has worked for nearly thirty years in eldercare, spending over twenty years dedicated to one听family. She has a deep understanding of dementia and Alzheimer鈥檚 patients and has an innate ability to build a bond with them, even those who are struggling with their diagnosis and with aggression.听She prioritizes听building trust听with her patients and ensuring their safety while allowing them to maintain as much independence as is safely possible.听She has experience with cancer, wound care, heart disease, and lung disease. She speaks fluent Spanish and English, is an excellent cook, and has incredible attention to detail. Any client she works for will adore her. She is now seeking听full-time听in-home work and is听flexible to work any schedule, including weekends.

Cynthia, Overnight听Home Health Aide

Specializing in Overnights and Flexible Schedules

Cynthia鈥檚 love and care for Martin were extraordinary. He felt safe, loved, and taken care of with Cynthia. Her presence during the nights was a great comfort to Martin. She was constantly there for him; she didn鈥檛 even nap. She would assist him every time he got up, and she would log his vitals every night. She handled personal care, laundry, cooking breakfast (and often dinner), and medication reminders. Anita and the team were very strict with visitors, both听in the hospital and in the home, mandating that everyone be tested for COVID and flu, as well as wear masks and gloves. Anita created a firm set of rules and the caretakers followed her lead perfectly with no exceptions. Cynthia’s cleaning methods are both gentle and thorough. This balance of gentleness and thoroughness extended to how she handled Martin鈥檚 personal care; Cynthia would tend to him with patience, kindness, dignity, and extreme thoroughness, then moisturize his skin, ensuring he always felt clean, safe, and loved by all.

Anita describes Cynthia as 鈥減ure sunshine, loving, caring, sensitive, professional, loyal, totally committed, highly intelligent, and adoring.鈥澨齀n addition to all of this, she is a great team player – she is a hard worker, has no ego, and a wonderful disposition.听Yaneth and Paola loved working with her, and she with them.听She is forever part of 鈥淭eam Martin.鈥

Cynthia has听years of experience as a HHA (Home Health Aide). She has worked with patients with dementia, TBI, cancer, heart issues and post-surgery, and wound care. She has experience with patients both recovering and terminally ill. She is happy to cook, help with pets and handle housekeeping.听She is now seeking听full-time听work and is听flexible and able to work any schedule, including听long hours and overnights.

Paola, Companion,听Personal Assistant,听& Executive Housekeeper

Weekends, Overnights, Flexible Schedule

In addition to being an exceptional caregiver for Martin, she was a personal assistant and executive housekeeper for him. She helped him with physical therapy and assisted him with his work, which Martin loved. She would organize, help him write his books, answer the phone, and care for the many guests that would visit on the weekends, including preparing and serving food for them.

Paola is equally fluent in both English and Spanish. Martin spoke fluent Spanish and loved the language, so they spoke mostly in Spanish, despite Paola being a native English speaker.

She was such a comfort to Martin and to Anita. She was extremely vocal and protective of Martin during his hospital stay. She was exceptionally careful, gentle, and loving. He felt her love and respect and felt very safe, as she had a lot of experience caring for her own family in medical situations. Paola is a special person. She gives her all, heart, soul, and mind to her job.

When Martin was ill late last year and returned home, Anita wanted two caregivers at all times, in addition to herself. Paola covered all the extra shifts, with joy, optimism, dedication, and love.听She is a loving, detail-oriented caregiver with no ego who followed all the rules perfectly.听Anita shares that she is truly good at everything and that Paola鈥檚 presence is special and so lovely to have in the home. She is very intuitive and knows when to step in or step back. Anita describes her as 鈥渂right, dedicated, extremely special, dedicated, committed, loving, fast and thorough, good at everything – everything she did, she did incredibly well, she worked quickly and thoroughly while always giving Martin love and respect and always keeping him safe,鈥 and went on to say 鈥淧aola is a rare gem.鈥澨齈aola鈥檚 love of Martin meant so much to Anita.

Paola鈥檚 background is in nannying and teaching before she transitioned to executive formal housekeeping, eldercare, and personal assistant work. She鈥檚听extremely tech-savvy听and excels at听creating and maintaining听organizational systems, both in the home and digitally. Paola is very flexible regarding schedule, ideally looking for part-time work. She is happy to work听weekends and overnights. She is in the process of becoming a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and she plans to continue on to get a master鈥檚 degree part-time, so she is very flexible to work days and nights, part-time or full-time with any two days off to continue with her studies.

Dawn, Registered Nurse12-Hour Shifts, Medical Care including IVs and Ventilators

Dawn handled anything Martin needed relating to his lung injury and oxygen, and new medical issues that arose. She advised and worked with him with such professionalism and a deep commitment and loyalty. Dawn gives her all: her heart, her soul, her mind, her experience, especially when the medical needs are serious. Dawn can do it all. She is an incredible team player. She treated everyone with equal respect and love. Dawn has no ego, she takes her job extremely seriously, and dedicates herself completely to her clients. The team loved her and followed her lead when necessary. Dawn鈥檚 decades of experience as a highly intelligent RN are invaluable.

She worked with both Anita鈥檚 mother and father, closer to the end of their lives. She joined Team Martin once he returned home from the hospital and was bedridden. She provided听medical care, did听CPR听when necessary, and handled听light cooking and housekeeping. Working alongside her, Anita observed how capable, helpful, and deeply kind Dawn is.听Anita shared that if Martin had come back from CPR, it would have been Dawn that saved his life: 鈥渨hen he stopped breathing she started CPR in milliseconds and had me call 911.听If he had lived, it would have been her who saved his life. She was incredibly fast and calm.鈥澨鼳nita says 鈥淒awn is听phenomenal, experienced, intelligent calm, strong, incredibly capable and a wonderful, secure presence in the home.听She is completely dedicated to her work and gives her all. She is very quick on her feet, extremely thorough, and excellent with patients.听She can handle serious situations with total professionalism. She is amazing.鈥

Dawn has been a Registered Nurse for over thirty years. She adores her job and loves people; this passion is evident in how much care she gives her patients and in how meticulous she is with every task. She is capable and experienced with all necessary at-home medical care, including听IVs, ventilators, pumps, drains, tracheostomies,听and more. She is looking for a role in eldercare or with any age patient in need of care. She has a听Compact Nursing License, meaning she can work in many states. She is听flexible in terms of schedule and hours, willing to work 12+ hour shifts, and willing to drive to second homes as needed. Dawn is looking for a long-term position. Her听ideal role is for a client who needs long-term care.听 In addition to her nursing and medical excellence, she is happy to care for a client and do light housekeeping and simple food preparation. Dawn can relocate for her ideal job.

Benefits of Learning a Second Language at a Young Age

Research shows that learning a second language at a young age leads to cognitive, academic, and social benefits for learners. It is generally agreed that the younger, the better, with those that begin before age 10 seeing the most benefits,听. That being said, it is never too late to start – even adult learners see benefits of learning a second language. However, if you have a little one at home, we recommend exposing them to a second language as early as possible. They will see benefits for years to come.

1. Improved Memory and Attention

Early bilingualism strengthens memory and attention spans, as young learners regularly practice recalling and switching between languages.听found that children who learned a second language early showed measurable differences in working-memory systems, which strengthens areas of the brain directly tied to focus, learning efficiency, and academic success. Notably, children who learn a second language do not show any听evidence of confusing languages or experiencing negative impacts or delays in language skills.

2. Better Executive Functioning

Mastering multiple languages from an early age enhances executive functions such as cognitive flexibility, impulse control, and multi-tasking.听听shows that bilingual children consistently outperform monolingual peers on tasks requiring attention regulation and mental control. Improving these skills will help them in elementary school, high school, college, and beyond.

3. Higher Academic Performance

Bilingual children often demonstrate stronger literacy, reading comprehension, and overall academic achievement, not only in the second language, but in their first as well.

4. Greater Cultural Awareness and Understanding

Learning a second language is a great gateway into another culture, place, and history. This type of deep learning about places and experiences outside of their own fosters empathy, compassion, and curiosity in children.

5. Future Career and Social Opportunities

Studies show that job-seekers who speak a second language typically have more opportunities and higher salaries than their monolingual counterparts. Speaking a second language can also help with foreign travel, as well as the ability to learn more languages easier as an adult.

There are many ways to help a child learn a second language, even if the parents don鈥檛 speak it themselves (although learning together is a wonderful family activity!). Hiring a听bilingual nanny, spending time with听bilingual family members, or enrolling children in a听specialty program or school听are all good options. Whatever you choose, try to support your child at home as much as possible, using at-home books, resources, and audio, and ideally providing听near-daily, in-person interaction with a caregiver听or instructor听who speaks the language fluently.

International Women’s Day 2026

In honor of听this weekend, we are pleased to celebrate our dedicated team of women. BAHS is a a proudly female owned and run company led by Anita Rogers. The team consists of听27 women听working across听6 time zones. Our talented team comes from a wide range of backgrounds – many members come from the hospitality industry or the household staffing world, including former nannies, governesses, and estate managers. BAHS prides itself on supporting women; the company offers several flexible working options to support women at every stage in life, especially during pregnancy and new parenthood.

The team includes听12 mothers听parenting听16 鈥淏AHS Kids鈥听ranging in age from 6-months to adult. A smiling (or crying!) little one is not an unusual sight on the team鈥檚 frequent staff meetings, held via video call. BAHS offers听health insurance听and听generous maternity leave听(the average time taken is 3-months) and every employee who has taken maternity leave has returned to their role, with two new mothers in the past year! The company offers flexible schedules to all employees so they can balance family, personal life, and work.

Thank you to our amazing BAHS team!

I support women and mothers in the workforce. We are all-female, led and run. Most of the team make as much or more than men make. I wanted this from the early days, as women are traditionally paid less than men, and once they are mothers, the regular work schedule doesn鈥檛 support spending quality time with your family. I give a free and flexible schedule so mothers can choose when to spend time with their families, they just have to have excellent output and be responsive, earn a certain amount (if they are in sales), and do a great job.

Blue Marble Private: Bespoke Luxury Travel Company

We sat down with , a bespoke travel company based in London that offers extraordinary experiences for the most discerning travelers.听BlueMarble鈥檚 team creates custom journeys across the globe, featuring private homes and villas, exclusive museum access, top dining reservations, and once-in-a-lifetime adventures.

What makes Blue Marble Private鈥檚 travel experiences unique?

We have long standing relationships that open doors to places and experiences that simply aren鈥檛 available off the shelf, whether that鈥檚 staying in a private home in Hawaii or meeting a winemaker in Burgundy whose family has been there for generations. But beyond the access, it鈥檚 the way we weave everything together, the pacing, the personal touches; it鈥檚 the little additions along the way that turn the trip into something entirely your own.

What does planning a trip with Blue Marble Private look like?

We try to make it as enjoyable and effortless as the trip itself. It usually starts with a conversation, getting to know what inspires you, how you like to travel, and what you鈥檙e hoping to get out of this journey. From there, we create a concept which outlines which destinations, hotels and experiences we have handpicked for you. We work on this collaboratively with you, balancing our expertise with your input, until it feels just right. We then get to work behind the scenes, confirming all the details and making sure everything is ready for your arrival. You receive a dedicated app which comes complete with daily details, contacts and useful information and throughout you have us at the other end of the phone, both during the planning and while you鈥檙e travelling.

How do you tailor trips to match individual client preferences?

Each client has a different personality, so we listen carefully to the details that matter the most. Some clients want to be as active as possible, others want cultural immersion, and some just want the feeling of escaping somewhere extraordinary. 滨迟鈥檚 not only about the destination but the structure of the days – do you like to pack them full of experiences or would you rather have one curated highlight each day with time to yourself in between? We listen to how you like to travel and build everything around these preferences, from the guides we match you with to the timing of your transfers.

Can you provide examples of curated trips you offer?

We鈥檝e arranged everything from a multi-generational family journey through Iceland with private lodges and glacier adventures, to a celebratory yacht charter in the Mediterranean, to an art-immersive long weekend in Florence with after-hours access to the Uffizi. On the more adventurous side we curate polar expeditions with expert guides, or private safaris that combine both traditional camps and full off-grid experiences. The common thread throughout is that each trip is entirely personal to each client.

How far in advance should one plan a trip?

For the really in-demand destinations – say, Gorilla trekking in Rwanda or a top suite in Europe鈥檚 high summer season – ideally a year out, sometimes more. That said, we鈥檝e also pulled extraordinary trips on much shorter notice, it just depends on how flexible you are and how open to creative solutions.

What are some of the most remote or off-market accommodations you offer?

Some of our favourites are private lodges in Iceland where you can step straight from your hot spring into raw wilderness, or ultra-remote safari camps in Kenya where you won鈥檛 see another vehicle for days. We also work with extraordinary off-market villas that never appear online, and private yachts that are only available through personal relationships.

What are your favorite underrated/under the radar destinations?

Namibia is extraordinary, the landscapes are otherworldly, from the towering red dunes of Sossusvlei to the remote Skeleton Coast, and you can explore them while staying in some of Africa鈥檚 most remarkable lodges. Bhutan is another favourite, a Himalayan kingdom that limits visitor numbers, yet offers exceptional properties from Aman and Six Senses, where days can include private monastery blessings or guided high-altitude hikes. And then there鈥檚 Patagonia 鈥 both Chilean and Argentinean 鈥 where raw wilderness meets a handful of extraordinary retreats.

Do you offer adventure-based luxury experiences, such as private safaris or polar expeditions?

Absolutely. Adventure and luxury are not mutually exclusive for us. We can curate heli-skiing in Iceland or Chile, polar voyages with leading scientists, and African safaris that combine private aviation with exclusive camps. 滨迟鈥檚 about giving each of our clients the thrill of real adventure, but with every comfort and detail taken care of.

What is the most unique adventure experience you鈥檝e curated?

One that stands out was a family鈥檚 journey across the Canadian Arctic. We arranged for them to travel with Inuit guides, track polar bears in the wild, and end each evening in a private camp with chefs and naturalists on hand. It was both profoundly adventurous and deeply personal – an experience that left the family with incredible memories, which is really the highest goal we have.
